| Gem Is One Of Rhode Island's Fastest Growing Companies |
Lincoln, RI, September 1, 2004 - Gem Plumbing and Heating, a locally owned family business, stormed up the ranks of the 50 Rhode Island Fastest Growing Companies, as compiled by the business weekly, Providence Business News, in its annual survey, published recently.
Gem advanced from the number 32 ranking in 2003 to number 9 for 2004 based on reported sales growth percentage. Gem’s 3-year sales growth, as reported in Providence Business News, was almost $17 million, or a 94.55% growth. Gem reported 2003 revenue of almost $34 million.
Significantly, 2004 marks the sixth year in a row that Gem Plumbing and Heating has made the PBN Fastest Growing Company list.
In an accompanying survey in PBN, Gem rose in the ranks of RI’s Top 100 Private Companies, advancing from a ranking of 51 last year to 38th this year, based on 2003 revenue.
During the past several years, Gem Plumbing and Heating has expanded its service area to include all of RI and greater sections of southeastern Massachusetts, introduced new services to its mix like electrical contracting and septic tank services, engaged in extensive employee training and empowerment programs, and worked diligently to achieve even higher levels of customer service and satisfaction. The company currently employs over 300 individuals and operates a fleet of more than 150 trucks.
This year alone Gem has won several local, regional and national awards, including the SBA’s RI and Regional New England awards as “Family Owned Small Business of the Year; an Innovation Award from the Small Business Association of New England (SBANE), and a regional “Best Company to Work For” award from national trade publication A/C, Heating and Refrigeration News.
