The Gem Institute for Performance Excellence was established in 2004 in an effort to assist organizations with their continuous quality improvement efforts, provide a framework for performance excellence, and to share our innovative business model.    

Since its establishment, thousands of business owners and managers from throughout the U.S. and Canada have toured the Gem Facility and attended the Gem Institute For Performance Excellence seeking insight and advice in the areas of leadership, creating a winning culture, strategic planning, customer service, measurement, knowledge management, workforce focus, process management, business results, coaching skills, team building, sales training and more.  From fortune 500 and fortune 100 companies to small business and family owned companies, our business model is adaptable to any size company whether small or large, for profit or not for profit, educational institutions, healthcare facilities or service/manufacturing firms.  Our business model is a proven success.  Based on feedback we have received from organizations that have learned our model, we have exceeded their expectations…every time!

Our foundation, Gem Plumbing & Heating, which was established by our father in 1949, has evolved from a one man, one truck plumbing company, to one of the largest complete home services companies in the United States.  Gem has transitioned from a traditional “mom and pop” business, to an innovative “leader” in the industry.  Our world-class customer service program, innovative marketing program, and our extensive use of technology are attributed to the success of Gem Plumbing & Heating. 

Built on strong family morals, trust, and integrity, along with the principles of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Program, the evolution of our dynamic living laboratory has afforded us, our employees, and all of our stakeholders the opportunity to gain knowledge that is invaluable to businesses throughout America.
 
We believe that the knowledge we were fortunate to gain throughout the past 58 years is worth sharing. This information can be integrated into any type of organization from service to sales, manufacturing, healthcare, government, and educational facilities.

The Gem Institute for Performance Excellence will provide your organization with a foundation and strategies for implementing a continuous quality improvement program and get you on started on your Journey to Performance Excellence.  We believe our business model will change the way you do business. 

Our successful business model is based on the principles of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Program, a national quality initiative established in 1987 by President Ronald Reagan.  This program offers a comprehensive set of criteria that align your business for maximum efficiency and results.  We offer our toolbox of techniques through full and half day business seminars. 

During these sessions, we provide you with all the techniques that will help you to understand how to:

  • Leadership:  Create a culture and successfully implement it.
  • Strategic Planning:  Create a business plan that works and a scorecard that measures it.
  • Customer & Market Focus:  Understand the requirements, needs, expectations, and preferences of your customers and markets.
  • Measurement Analysis:  Select, gather, analyze, manage, and improve data and information so that it works for you instead of against you.
  • Workforce Solutions:  Examine how your organization engages, manages, and develops your workforce to utilize its full potential in alignment with your overall mission and vision.   
  • Process Management:  Identify your core competencies and work systems and how they design, manages, and improve your key processes for maximum efficiency.
  • Maximize Results:   Achieve the financial and operational results you deserve.                   

Each of these modules can be further detailed, specifically designed for your organization, in courses ranging from half day sessions to one, two or three full day sessions, depending on the depth and breadth of the module.
